Director of Training

Don Bridges

Don, the Head Trainer at LEC, has extensive experience in the horse industry. Originally from North Carolina, Don has been working around horses his entire life. He grew up in a rural setting riding the family and other local draft horses and mules and showing quarter horses during high school. His experience in the professional horse industry began at a hunter barn in Greensborough, North Carolina where he started first as a groom and moved from there into teaching and training. Don made the switch to Saddle Horses because, as he says, “it was something I always wanted to do, so I did it.” When he found work at his first Saddlebred barn, he knew nothing of the breed and discipline except what he had seen at local fairs and horse shows. It was at one of these small affairs that he first decided that Saddle Seat looked like something he wanted to do. The trainer Don worked for in Wilson, North Carolina eventually went into business for himself and hired Don, who had been working as an Assistant Trainer under him, to be his Head Trainer. Since then, Don has trained at Saddlebred barns in North Carolina, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, and Texas where he had his own program. He was training at a Barn in Eastwood when he got the call from Betsy in 2007.
